Chemical Filtration: Filter Structure Filters utilized for chemical filtration are typically composed of a polymeric membrane supported by woven or nonwoven materials and assembled into a pleated structure. The pleated structure is formed into a cylinder, around a polymeric core, with a polymeric cage to protect the filter during installation handling. The assembly typically has one blind (solid) end-cap, an open end-cap, which contains one or two o-ring grooves. The o-rings are utilized to provide integral seal to the housing, in the case of a replaceable filter element.
