DEFINITIONSThis section defines some of the terminology that is commonly used in various types of flat-panel display. The terminology, structure, and characteristics of various displays are discussed in this chapter. Alternating current (ac) mode. AC mode is an approach to operating the display panel. When this approach is used, a dielectric layer is usually needed as part of the panel. Brightness. Brightness is the intensity of the light or image. The unit is nit (cd/m2) or foot-lambert (English unit). Candela (Cd).
