Printed High-Performance Logic Circuits The complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS)–based inverter is one of the basic units of logic elements in modern integrated circuits (ICs), comprising p-type and n-type transistors, with exceptional properties such as extremely low power consumption and a small noise margin. Due to its low power consumption, a complementary inverter is superior to other inverter configurations (e.g., resistive-load inverters). However, transistor miniaturization down to 22 nm and below by the current top-down approach imposes many challenges, such as short channel effects and gate leakage, etc. [
