NANOTECHNOLOGY MANUFACTURINGThe approaches taken in nanotechnology manufacturing can also mostly be categorized as either top down or bottom up. The most notable example of products employing nanotechnology are ICs that have gate lengths of the complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor transistor devices measuring only a little over 10 nm and are composed of several billions of transistor elements on a single slab of silicon substrate.ICs represent the largest, both in terms of volume and annual sales of top-down approach used in nanotechnology manufacturing. Including both logic and memory devices, total annual sales in 2016 expected to be about $370 billion.71
