<emphasis role="bold">Description</emphasis> Most fiber communication links are deployed in point-to-point physical topologies. Other topologies such as ring, mesh, and star are various configurations of numerous point-to-point links. The basic elements of a point-to-point topology are the end terminals, fiber cable, WDM equipment, signal regeneration and/or amplification equipment, and other signal conditioning equipment.
