ARTICLE 90. INTRODUCTION 90.1. Purpose (A). Practical Safeguarding. The intent of this section is to establish a clear and definite relationship between the National Electrical Code® and electrical system design as well as field installation. Basically stated, the NEC is intended only to assure that electrical systems installed in commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential occupancies are safe. That is, to provide a system that is "essentially free from hazard." The Code (throughout this manual, the words "Code," "NE Code," and "NEC®" refer to the National Electrical Code
