Benefits and Challenges of Energy Storage SystemsAs discussed in the previous sections, many are the benefits that ESS provide to the energy sector.ESS facilitate increase of penetration of renewable energy power plants by stabilizing their energy injection in the grid. ESS combined with RES can be valid substitute for traditional fossil fuel–based power plants.
