Optimization MethodsOptimization techniques are of strategic importance for all energy projects. The goal of optimization is the maximization or minimization of the utility function chosen by the organization. Such function is normally linked to the highest possible energy conversion and its availability for use, which translates into the maximization of the revenues of the project and the minimization of its costs. A correct implementation of these techniques makes the difference between a go or a no-go decision to project development and construction.From the Oxford English Dictionary, optimization is defined as [6]:
