Grid Interfacing and System Functioning
Grid Interfacing and System FunctioningThe interfacing and functioning of the ESS in the distribution grid depends on technical norms and regulations. Typically, an ESS is considered as a generator, not a load, and has to be connected to the grid after having obtained a connection permit and having received the technical specifications for the connection. Both connection permit and technical specifications depend on the characteristics of the point of connection and the grid. All values that can be described in this section are indicative; local grid codes (i.e., German BDEW, UK National Grid code, US FERC, or the Italian Terna's Codice di Rete) have to be checked to ensure compliance of ESS design.
