Sidestream Nutrient Removal and Recovery Design Considerations
General Design Considerations Successfully deployed sidestream treatment requires that both the sidestream reactor and the ancillary support systems that convey and pretreat the dewatering reject liquor be carefully designed. The unique characteristics of the dewatering reject stream make minimization of precipitation and fouling critical considerations for design. The decision to move forward with a sidestream treatment scheme will require definition of the costs of managing the dewatering reject liquor from the point of production to the point of return back to the mainstream process.
