WIREWAY WIRING264. Wireways may be installed only for exposed work, except as extensions to pass transversely through walls. They must not be used where they will be subjected to severe physical damage or to corrosive vapors or in any hazardous location, except as specifically permitted in the hazardous location articles in the NEC. Wireways for outdoor use shall be of approved raintight construction. Their chief application is for the installation of mains and feeders in industrial plants or other locations where a flexible means of supplying branch circuits is advantageous or where many wires must be located in one run.
