The NEC allows the installation of EMT, either concealed or exposed, when either during construction or afterward it will not be subject to severe physical damage. Electrical metallic tubing may be supported in buildings of fire-resistive construction on the face of masonry or other material of which walls or ceilings are composed. It may then be buried in concrete or plaster finish.
