When several of these musical vibrations are at frequencies that are integral multiples of a major frequency or tone, a musical chord is produced. Piano or guitar music is a good example of this. By definition, a harmonic is a sinusoidal component of a periodic wave which has a frequency that is an integral multiple of the fundamental frequency.
