Introduction Graywater systems are on-site water treatment systems that gather wastewater, treat it, and return the reclaimed water to the building plumbing system for constructive reuse. Graywater comes from many sources.1 It is defined as: "Untreated household wastewater that has not come in contact with toilet waste and includes wastewater from bathtubs, showers, washbasins, washing machines and laundry tubs, but does not include wastewater from kitchen sinks, dishwashers or laundry water from the washing of material soiled with human excreta, such as diapers."
