General Requirements In general, requirements for aircraft electrical systems are established to assure that the systems will perform their functions reliably and effectively. The requirements for normal, utility, and acrobatic aircraft are set forth in FAR Part 23. FAR Part 25 gives the requirements for transport-category aircraft. Various changes are made in these requirements from time to time, and it is the responsibility of the FAA, manufacturers, and maintenance personnel to ensure that required changes are incorporated in certificated aircraft, as needed.
