BATTERY RATINGS
BATTERY RATINGSA battery consists of a number of primary or secondary cells connected in series. The cells are arranged in this manner to increase the battery's voltage above the voltage available from only one cell. When cells are connected in series, the total battery voltage is equal to the sum of all the voltages of each cell. That is, total battery voltage = voltage of cell 1 + voltage of cell 2 + voltage of cell 3, etc. Figure 3-25 shows the cells of a lead-acid battery connected in series to obtain 12 V.
