TYPES OF CIRCUITSTo cause a current to flow through a conductor, a difference of potential (pressure) must be maintained between the ends of the conductor. In an electric circuit this difference of potential is normally produced by a battery, generator, or alternator. To simplify discussions, this text will show the battery as the typical source of electrical pressure, emf.Figure 2-6 shows the components of a simple circuit with a battery as the source of power. One end of the circuit is connected to the positive terminal of the battery and the other to the negative terminal.
